Dentec, is a growing and well-regarded name in the automotive industry, employing over 70 skilled professionals in the Glasgow area. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Accounts Assistant to take ownership of key financial processes, including bookkeeping, payroll, and reporting. This is a pivotal role for someone who thrives in a hands-on position and wants to play a direct role in supporting the finance function of a busy business.

Responsibilities

Maintain and process accurate records for sales and purchase invoices, supplier payments, and staff expenses. Take the lead on in-house payroll--ensuring accurate calculations, HMRC submissions, and compliance. Manage bank reconciliations, cash flow tracking, and ledger maintenance Support the Finance Manager in preparing management accounts and monthly financial reports. Assist with VAT returns, month-end and year-end close processes Respond to internal and external queries related to accounts, payroll, and reporting. Continuously improve financial processes and ensure accurate record-keeping

Requirements

Strong experience in an accounts or bookkeeping role. Demonstrated experience managing payroll independently. Confident working with financial data and contributing to monthly reporting. Proficient in accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero. High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of responsibilities. AAT qualified (or part-qualified), or equivalent experience. Automotive industry experience is advantageous but not essential.
