We are looking for a Senior Accounts Assistant to assist with the rural portfolio of clients looked after by the Carter Jonas Client Accounting team. The role is based at our Shrewsbury office and will involve looking after your own portfolio of clients as well as assisting your manager with their portfolio. Given the nature of the work and that a large percentage is based upon your knowledge of the clients, it can take up to 12 months for you to become familiar with them and the work involved. The software package used is TBS TRAMPS.

Main tasks:

• Bank reconciliations
• Liaising with processing teams with the demand and collection of rents
• Raising ad-hoc demands and collection of other income as necessary
• Purchase ledger payments
• Debt collection
• Periodic client reporting
• Client payments
• Petty cash reconciliation
• Experience of double entry book-keeping and the practices behind it along with the ability to post journals, be familiar with accruals and prepayments, and understand the difference between cash-based accounting and accruals-based accounting.
• Ideally have a full and detailed understanding of the RICS regulations in respect of client accounting.
• Have knowledge of VAT in respect of general accounting and in respect of land and property.
• Developing and maintaining knowledge of any legislation particular to your portfolio of clients.

You will have excellent IT and software skills, with knowledge and experience of TRAMPS. You will be highly efficient and organised, with the ability to work independently when required. You will be an excellent communicator and provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
