Step into a pivotal role supporting Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, where your work truly makes a difference in protecting the rights and well-being of vulnerable adults under the Mental Capacity Act 2005.


Business Support is essential to the efficient operation of Adult Social Care and Safeguarding Services, ensuring seamless processes that allow frontline staff to focus on engaging with the community. Our teams provide comprehensive administrative assistance across key areas such as Strategic Management, Safeguarding, First Contact, Learning Disabilities, and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), thus enabling operational managers and social workers to concentrate on supporting individuals in need. Every position within Business Support makes a significant contribution to the well-being of residents throughout Staffordshire.


The team's Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards responsibilities are centred around ensuring that vulnerable adults, who lack capacity to consent but need to be accommodated under care and treatment regimes that may have the effect of depriving them of their liberty, have their best interests protected in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards Code of Practice. The job plays a key role in the processing of DOLS referrals, ensuring statutory timescales are met and are line with DOLS Code of Practice and also communicates with providers, assessors and members of the public.


This role will suit someone who is a strong team player and who wants to provide an excellent service for Staffordshire's service users.


Main Responsibilities

In this role you'll:

Excellent communication skills (phone, face-to-face, email) Administrative skills and experience to support the provision of a timely and high-quality Business Support service for Staffordshire County Council Excellent communication skills to engage with our internal and external customers and administration teams to share best practise using digital solutions where appropriate to improve processes. An ability to work in a fast-paced, busy environment, and to manage changes at short notice. Good IT skills with a knowledge of MS 365 software Passion for delivering outstanding service

This role may require working from different offices. Currently, we operate both in-office and remotely, and this arrangement is expected to continue.
