Algorithm Engineer (Data Fusion & Target Tracking Specialist)

As an Algorithm Engineer with a specialism in Data Fusion & Target Tracking, you thrive on learning new things, be highly independent and mathematically minded. You will help develop new products with emerging technologies and work on projects in diverse areas such as, data fusion and optimisation, autonomy, probabilistic analysis and target tracking solutions, allowing you the opportunity to develop your technical skills in different areas. As our next Algorithm Engineer you will be developing innovative solutions for customers within the Futures business unit; your projects will be highly innovative but ensuring your approach has the quality & robustness that customers expect.

Essential Requirements

You will need to have an understanding of the following techniques and algorithms and experience with implementing them in practise in real-world systems:

  • Probability and statistics including information theory
  • Sensor modelling (e.g. noise models, observation models, etc)
  • State estimation techniques (e.g. KF, UKF, Particle Filter, PhD Filter, etc)
  • Data association techniques (e.g. JPDA, Multi-Frame Assignment)
  • Target tracking and data fusion architectures and algorithms including centralised and decentralised approaches.
  • Global and local optimisation techniques (e.g. stochastic search, dynamic programming)
You will be able to demonstrate an understanding of when and where the above techniques could and should be applied. You will be able to demonstrate the ability to derive one or more of the basic techniques above from first principles.

You will be able to demonstrate experience with developing tracking solutions for real-world systems including experience working with real-world sensors.

Desirable Requirements
  • Experience with implementing the techniques listed in the Essential Requirements section in C++ is highly desirable.
  • Experience with one or more of the following is also desirable:
  • Sensor management algorithms and frameworks (e.g. information theoretic sensor management, Partially Observed Markov Decision Processes (POMDP))
  • Model Predictive Control
  • Reinforcement Learning
  • Multiple Objective Optimisation
