The Joint International Crime Centre (JICC) was launched in April 2023 and was created in order to coordinate and support the response of UK policing and law enforcement to tackle international crime. The JICC comprises officers and staff from across UK policing and the NCA, offering a multi-agency approach to meeting the increasing international demands of territorial policing. The JICC provides a whole-system approach to tackling international crime harnessing UK and international expertise and providing access to specialist capabilities both within the NCA and partner organisations including HMRC, ACRO, the CPS and partners across UK law enforcement and criminal justice. The JICC is jointly overseen by the NCA Director General and Chair of the National Police Chiefs' Council (NPCC).


The JICC Analysis Team is a multi-disciplinary team of Intelligence, Performance and Technical Analysts. At our most strategic, our products inform Home Office capability boards and the

NPCC International Criminality Portfolio and is cited at Home Affairs committees. Tactically, we drive internal prioritisation, force engagement and locate fugitives wanted for extradition. The Senior Analyst will lead a small team, responsible for Intelligence and Performance analysis. Their team will drive organisational decision-making, evidence the impact of our work and articulate how the JICC keeps the public safe.

Job description




The JICC consists of approximately three hundred NCA officers and seconded police officers and police staff. The JICC leads, coordinates and supports the response of UK policing and wider law enforcement to international crime. It leads and coordinates lawful international cooperation through a 24/7 service that prioritises and responds to operational requirements of domestic and international partners. As a part of the JICC, you will provide an international cooperation service to front line policing and wider law enforcement, using all of the international capabilities within the NCA. You will build and maintain domestic and international relationships to deliver against operational objectives.


The JICC's Analysis & Insight Team provide tactical and strategic support across all JICC capabilities in order to identify and prioritise risk and drive our operational response. Our Senior Analyst and their team play a key role in supporting evidence-based decision-making, prioritisation and risk management across the JICC, with an impact far wider across the NCA, policing and partners.


Every day in the JICC is different. You will be responsible for dealing with the response to a variety of threat areas, with links to national and international priorities. You will be working in a dynamic environment, prioritising and managing expectations of both UK and international partners, whilst delivering a quality service to meet customer needs. You will be required to maintain a flexible and innovative approach to your leadership, adapting to fluctuating demands and priorities. You will ensure that all activity is prioritised, aligned with strategic objectives, and complies with statutory provisions and relevant control strategies.


The JICC is still within its implementation phase and, as such, you will be required to work with colleagues internally and externally to identify and implement new, efficient ways of working, whilst embedding a positive culture across diverse teams.

Duties and Responsibilities



Supervise a team of analysts, leading and coordinating the production of intelligence products to drive internal activity. Quality assurance, ensuring work is carried out to the highest standard, supports decision making and makes appropriate use information sources and analytical tools and techniques. Maintain an awareness of developments and good practise in analysis, supporting analysts to achieve Intelligence Professionalisation Programme accreditation. Produce, present and disseminate appropriate and relevant analytical outputs e.g. products to inform tactical, operational or strategic decision making. Deliver briefings and presentations, making recommendations to support the decision making and risk management process. Ensure appropriate and secure handling and dissemination of material in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures. Develop expertise in relation to international capabilities, as well as analytical specialisms as required by role.

Person specification



Formal Intelligence analysis training or equivalent experience within an analytical field



For example: National Intelligence Analyst Training (NIAT)/ Government Intelligence Analyst Training (GIAT)/ NCA Analyst Foundation 1 / Intelligence Analyst (level 4) Apprenticeship.

Proficient in the use of information technology



Experience handling large complex data sets using Microsoft 365 technologies and specialist analytical software.
