Job description



The role and responsibilities




Do you have a passion for conducting research and analysis to influence policy and regulatory decisions? Are you able to synthesise evidence to tell robust and engaging stories to stakeholders? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Research Analyst at TPR.


You will be responsible for leading and delivering research projects that provide robust evidence and insights to support regulatory decision-making. This includes designing, managing and conducting both qualitative and quantitative research, across a range of pensions policy and regulatory areas.


We're looking for a skilled and independent research analyst who thrives on undertaking research and turning findings into actionable insights and clear, strategic recommendations. You should be fully proficient at managing research agencies and adding value at all stages when working with them, as well as running surveys and analysis independently. You'll also need to be proactive in applying innovative approaches to maximise the impact of our research and experienced at delivering high quality work at pace.


We are looking for collaborative research analysts, who are comfortable working in multi-disciplinary teams and with stakeholders across TPR, taking a leading role on topic-based evidence gathering exercises You will have the opportunity to work with junior analysts within the team, providing leadership and guidance on both scoping projects and the analytical delivery.


As TPR's regulatory needs evolve, you will need to be able to flexibly pivot to focus on new work areas.

The role criteria




Essential

Postgraduate education in a relevant subject (e.g. social research methods) or equivalent professional experience. Experience in using independent judgement to conduct hypothesis-led research, applying original thought and judgement to strategic questions and multi-faceted problems Lead and manage projects/work streams, coordinating and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely deliveries, including working with multidisciplinary teams. Expert proficiency in research design, including at least one of the following: longitudinal panel, cross sectional, cohort studies and quasi experimental design Expert/practitioner level of research analysis including descriptive statistics, simple statistical testing (T-tests, chi squared), qualitative coding and visualisation of data Strong communication skills of complex research findings to explain relevance of insights and translate evidence into business needs

Desirable

Knowledge and understanding of the UK pensions industry. Expertise in managing high value research procurement processes Expert/practitioner experience of survey software, including complex routing.

The team




The Strategy, Policy, and Analysis directorate plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the pensions market by developing a regulatory framework that enables market innovation, and for strategic development and implementation right across TPR. As our creative engine, it brings together strategy, policy, economics, external risk, and analysis, and user insights generated from our colleagues in Compliance & Enforcement Group and Market Oversight, as well as external sources, to evolve our regulatory framework and best direct our resources towards mitigating risks and delivering good saver outcomes.
