Join our dynamic Actuarial Financial Reporting team in London as a Nearly/Newly Qualified Actuary, where you will report directly to the Senior Syndicate Reserving Actuary.

The candidate will play a critical role in the Syndicate reserving function setting robust well informed best estimate reserves and ensuring clear, accurate and timely communication to Lloyd's. The successful candidate will demonstrate technical depth commercial awareness and influential interpersonal skills to support the actuarial view of the portfolio.

What will your essential responsibilities include?

Best Estimate Reserving

: Collaborate in the development and maintenance of the actuarial best estimate reserves for Syndicate Reserving ensuring compliance with Lloyd's regulatory standards and internal frameworks

Budget Loss Ratio Participation

: Actively participate in the setting of the budget loss ratio (SBF) for the Syndicates.

Product Knowledge Development:

Gain a deep understanding of the various products written on the Syndicate paper by interacting with product actuaries, underwriting meetings and other business forums

Business Insights Translation

: Effectively translate business learnings into the best estimate reserves for submission to Lloyds ensuring proactive communication and timely, accurate reporting

Regulatory Knowledge Framework

: Develop and update knowledge on the Lloyds framework in terms of reserving and reporting compliance

Cross-Department Collaboration:

Work with collaboratively with finance, claims and other departments to fulfil Lloyd's regulatory reserving reporting requirements

Global Team Engagement

: Maintain continuous dialogue with the global reserving team to factor in expert judgments on trends, methods and assumptions

Strategic Influence

: Play a pivotal role in reserving and reporting for the Syndicates at AXA XL. The Syndicates write a very diverse book of business including Property, Casualty, Marine, Energy, Aerospace, Financial lines, Equine, Specie, Product Recall, Political Violence, Political Risk as well as Accident & Health.

Exposure to Lloyd's Market Dynamics

: Deepen your expertise in Lloyd's reserving, governance, and syndicate- specific nuances, with the opportunity to contribute to market- facing developments.

High Visibility

: Work closely with the UK and Lloyd's Chief Actuary and the Syndicate Signing Actuary as well as local finance, claims, audit, underwriters and senior management.

Global Collaboration

: Operate in a globally connected environment, working alongside talented teams across India, the UK, and other global offices, fostering a truly collaborative culture.

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Reserving Experience

: Around 5 years of experience in non-life actuarial reserving, with a focus on Lloyd's reserving and reporting

Lloyd's Market Knowledge

: Demonstrated experience with Lloyd's and/or Syndicate reserving is essential, including familiarity with Lloyd's regulatory requirements, reporting processes, and governance frameworks.

Technical Proficiency

: experience in reserving methodologies, actual software tools, and relevant statistical techniques. Able to form self-directed actuarial judgments while incorporating business context.

Collaborative Spirit

: Comfortable working in a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders

Effective Communication

: Capable of communicating complex actuarial results and insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Self-Driven and Solution Oriented

: highly motivated, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Brings a problem-solving mindset and a willingness to challenge the status-quo constructively.

Innovative and Commercially Aware

: Curious and forward-thinking, with a desire to improve processes and contribute to business strategy through data-driven insights and actuarial perspectives.

Professional Qualification

: Nearly/newly qualified actuary (e.g. FIA or equivalent) with a robust track record of continuing professional development.
