Job Description

Are you someone who thrives on driving performance within Yield Management? We are looking for a professional to lead high-impact portfolios--specializing in either Data Analytics (BI/KPIs) or Surcharge Management--and assuming operational leadership and decision-making responsibilities in the absence of the line manager.



The Role





Leadership, Strategy & Projects


Strategic Development:Develop business concepts and ideas in your field of expertise together with the Yield Management (YM) Manager, leveraging experience and seniority to drive improvements. Project Leadership:Participate in and manage global and regional projects, ensuring Europe and Africa (EUA) business requirements are considered and met. Operational Decision Making:Use experience to make business decisions within your field of expertise, supporting the YM Team and other departments where required. Team Mentorship:Support other YM Analysts by using experience and seniority to ensure YM reporting continuity and the highest standards of output. Business Advisory:Offer advice and guidance to other EUA departments to improve business performance and identify yield improvement measures. Ad Hoc Studies:Manage data management projects and ad hoc studies for specific business concepts within the EUA business.

Additionally, The role will specialize in ONE of the following two areas:



Option A: Data Analytics, BI & Reporting Focus




Looker Development:Act as a Developer for Marketing & Commercial department (M&C), ensuring all reporting needs are met in line with governance rules. DDE Adoption*: Guide EUA M&C stakeholders to utilise reporting functionalities and act as a subject matter expert driving the region towards a Data Driven Enterprise (DDE).
Data governance*: representing M&C in DDE structures.
Tool Maintenance*: Maintain and enhance current YM reporting and KPI tools.
Automation Strategy:Develop new reporting and operational tools and guide the team towards the highest level of reporting automation, limiting manual work. Training:Assist with developing end users' knowledge of system/software products and provide effective roll-out sessions for new BI reporting tools/global KPIs. KPI Governance:Establish regional target settings from global targets; ensure all EUA KPIs follow global ONE standards and policies as outlined by GHQ.

Option B: Surcharge, Tariff & Commercial Focus




Policy Execution:Execute multi-Trade commercial policies as set up by Global Head Quarter (GHQ) while ensuring that EUA feedback is considered in those policies. Portfolio Strategy:Coordinate cargo portfolio strategy analysis; work with Marketing and Trade Teams to analyze revenue impact and maximize yield return. Tariff Management:Manage EUA surcharges and Detention/Demurrage (DMT) tariffs to ensure cost recovery, market competitiveness, and overall compliance. Regulatory Compliance:Ensure EUA surcharge processes and tariffs meet all applicable regulatory requirements and global policies set by GHQ. Cross-Functional Alignment:Cooperate with the internal stakeholders to align strategies.

The Requirements




Essential (Required for all):


Industry Knowledge:Deep understanding of the Shipping business, including Marketing/Trade dynamics, Pricing structures, and Yield Management principles. Communication:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and present fact-based arguments to senior stakeholders. Analytical Mindset:Strong problem-solving abilities with a proven track record of using data to drive business decisions. Experience:Proven experience in a senior analytical or commercial role within the logistics/shipping sector. Business Awareness:Understands the broader commercial impact of yield decisions and aligns daily tasks with company strategy. Decision Making:Capable of making independent, sound judgments in the absence of the manager, balancing data with commercial reality. Data Literacy:Ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into simple, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders. Innovation & Improvement:Proactively identifies inefficiencies and proposes new tools or processes (automation/policy changes) to solve them. Planning & Organization:strong ability to manage multiple conflicting priorities, such as daily reporting versus long-term project deadlines. Team Work:collaborative approach, willing to share knowledge and cover for colleagues to ensure team success. Customer Focus:Prioritizes the needs of internal stakeholders (Trade, Marketing, GHQ) to ensure they have the tools and policies needed to succeed.

Track-Specific (Depending on Focus):




For Data Track:High expertise in Data Management, SQL, and BI visualisation tools (specifically Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI). For Commercial Track:Strong experience in Tariff construction, Surcharge regulation, and Commercial Policy implementation.
