Role Overview
We are seeking a
Senior Applications Engineer
to join our Technical department, focusing on the design, testing, and delivery of
customised infrared (IR), ultraviolet (UV), and controlled energy source solutions
.
This is a
hands-on engineering role
combining practical testing, applications development, and CAD-based design work. You will work closely with customers and internal teams to develop bespoke solutions, from initial concept and testing through to approved designs and final delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop
custom IR and UV heating/processing solutions
tailored to specific customer applications
Carry out
hands-on testing and trials
, including proof-of-concept and application validation
Specify and integrate
control systems
for IR/UV sources
Produce
CAD drawings and technical documentation
for customer approval and internal build
Support projects through the full lifecycle: concept, testing, design approval, build, and delivery
Work closely with Sales, Production, and Project teams to ensure technical feasibility and delivery success
Provide
technical input to customers
, including recommendations and performance expectations
Support continuous improvement of testing methods, internal processes, and standard designs
Assist in troubleshooting and optimisation of systems for customer-specific applications
Maintain accurate technical records and test reports
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
Proven experience in an
applications, design, or project engineering role
within an industrial or manufacturing environment
Strong
hands-on testing and practical engineering
capability
Experience working with
CAD software
(e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
Ability to translate customer requirements into engineered solutions
Good understanding of
thermal processes, electrical systems, or controlled energy sources
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Confident communicator, able to work with customers and internal stakeholders
Desirable:
Experience with
infrared and/or ultraviolet technologies
Knowledge of
control systems
, sensors, or automation
Background in bespoke or low-volume engineered solutions
Experience supporting projects from concept through to manufacture
