We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Architect to join our creative and friendly Midlands team, working from either our Birmingham or Shrewsbury studio. While the position is listed as based in Birmingham, it can be based in either location depending on your preference.
About You
An ambitious Senior Architect who is keen to grow in a busy studio. You will possess an innovative approach to design, with strong visualisation skills and an awareness of design style. Be capable of precisely communicating concepts to technical and non-technical audiences using 3D models, drawings, written text and oral presentations. You will have both design and technical skills, be fluent in problem solving and have a strong eye for detail.
The Role
Under the leadership of a Project Director, you will be responsible for planning and designing buildings and land areas with regard to functional and aesthetic requirements, budgets and timescales. Within this role, it is important to maintain effective working relationships, understand where your skillset fits within the team and collaborate with colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for the project.
Your Skills and Experience
ARB registered Architect
10 years Post-Qualified Experience
Proven commercial and contractual awareness
Advanced knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other digital imaging tools
Good knowledge of Autodesk Revit
Routine use of Newforma Project Centre for managing emails, creating, issuing and preserving record documents and sharing files
Experience in running large-scale projects
Proven ability to manage and lead project teams effectively
Key Responsibilities
Take receipt of a brief from an AHR Manager and with only limited intervention from them, develop it into a design in line with the RIBA Plan of Work
Contribute to and help co-ordinate the development of AHR's Pre-Construction Information in line with the RIBA Plan of Work and AHR's Deliverables and DRM
Achieve efficient and effective designs using robust and sustainable design solutions
Prepare compliant designs by following UK Construction Law, British Standards and relevant CoPs
Choose or advise on material selection
Author specifications using AHR's NBS Masters. Source and evidence supporting and up-to-date technical information from manufacturers
Participate in Project Reviews and coordination workshops
Assist in gathering and preparing information required to support statutory submissions, such as Planning, Building Regulations and Building Safety Gateways
Negotiate with statutory bodies, write reports and complete statutory submissions (Planning Applications / Gateway submissions / Building Regulations etc)
Attend meetings and workshops with Clients, Designers, Contractors, and other Specialists
Support the Project Lead with the maintenance of the Design Risk Registers
Use Document Control on your project(s) in line with AHR Protocols
