PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: 70,000 - 85,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE




Join the BBC's Product Group as a Senior Architect and shape the future of online experiences for millions, collaborating with world-class teams to design scalable solutions that inform, educate, and entertain. You'll drive innovation in search across the BBC's online estate, working with cutting-edge tech involving search engines, machine learning all hosted on the cloud.

Interview process:






A two-stage virtual interview. Both stages are designed to learn about you and your experiences, as well as a chance to meet the key people you will work with. The second stage will involve a short presentation to demonstrate your skills as a technology leader and communicator.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT



To build effective relationships and work with engineering teams, product owners and any 3rd party suppliers, ensuring delivery of our business outcomes aligned with the department's technical principles and strategy. To assist the engineering teams with the definition of project scope and technical approach during project inception and to assist in the definition of implementation To be responsible for documenting and communicating the evolution of our systems. To keep abreast of technical developments of strategic importance to Search and to participate with the wider architecture team in developing and setting broader architectural strategy To assist with the growth of the teams you work with through coaching and mentoring those staff.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE



ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:






Experience as a senior engineer or technical architect working with fast-moving agile product & engineering teams. Experience of delivering secure, performant cloud based services with high availability An excellent and proactive collaborator, working across teams, empowering and supporting others, with the ability to inspire & persuade. A strong communicator, able to work with people of all levels and disciplines, helping to explain complicated technology solutions and their business benefits and implications. Experience, or a willingness to learn, about machine learning and search technologies.

Experience working with a range of AWS services Experience working with large content data sets
