Senior Associate (uk)

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Mullen Coughlin is a highly successful, fast-growing niche law firm with international presence focused exclusively on counseling organizations in the context of data privacy, including incident response, regulatory investigation, and compliance. Committed to rapid incident response to incoming client calls, we thrive in a high energy, close-knit, and upbeat culture. The Firm pays very competitively in the market and offers a full benefit package, including holiday, paid maternity and paternity leave, and a pension program.

The UK office is comprised of a small specialist team of partners and associates based across the UK.

In this role, the Senior Associate will work in a highly collaborative, team environment to provide legal counsel to organizations investigating and responding to international data privacy and cybersecurity incidents. Senior Associates are expected to lead complex matters, including large-scale ransomware attacks, supply chain compromises, and cross-border data breaches. They will gather and assess relevant facts, engage and coordinate with forensic and other third-party experts, and guide clients through regulatory communications, notification requirements, and potential enforcement actions. Senior Associates also play a key role in supervising and mentoring junior team members, reviewing their work product, and supporting professional development. Due to the unpredictable nature of cybersecurity events, all Partners and Associates participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide crisis management support to our clients.

The ideal candidate will be qualified as a Solicitor in England & Wales, have over five years of experience in crisis management, cybersecurity, or privacy, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused approach to client service. Candidates must have demonstrable experience leading and managing complex cybersecurity incidents, including coordinating multiple stakeholders and navigating regulatory and operational risks. Experience supervising and mentoring junior lawyers or team members is essential. Exceptional analytic, writing, communication, and preparation skills, plus focused attention to detail, are key to performing well in our highly responsive environment. Candidates should demonstrate initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to independently manage their own caseload and lead high-impact client engagements.

We are currently looking for lawyers with a minimum of five years PQE, with preference given to those who have worked in private practice within data privacy, healthcare, financial services, or regulatory compliance.
