Job Description

We're seeking a highly experienced and driven Senior Audit Manager to lead a diverse portfolio of audit and statutory accounts clients. This pivotal role is focused on delivering exceptional audit quality while managing complex engagements.



As a Senior Manager, you will take ownership of client relationships, oversee engagement delivery, and provide strategic leadership to the management team. You'll be responsible for team performance, including workload allocation, mentoring and appraising junior staff, and maintaining a clear understanding of the team's financial health.

Key Accountabilities




Statutory Accounts

Final review of statutory financial statements and accompanying working papers.

Audit

Manage a complex portfolio of clients organising the portfolio and assignments from start to finish, with limited assistance from the RI. Perform thorough management review of planning, fieldwork and finalisation. Manage own time and manage others time in order to meet internal and external deadlines, Ensure team rearrange plans, invites and deadlines if the client is late with information, including managing job bookings. Keep a good control of budgetary and time constraints ensuring that jobs make at least 90% recoverability, providing explanation where they do not meet this threshold. Visit clients' premises to complete reviews when required. Make decisions with the support of the RI in relation to audit and client matters.

Management Team

Chair managers' meetings, providing and communicating ideas to improve internal processes and operations within the team. Be actively involved in appraising members of the team, including assistant managers & supervisors, providing feedback to direct reports and supporting them in their off the job learning through the apprenticeship scheme with First Intuition Communicate clearly with the team, encouraging key skills such as prioritising, planning and delegation. Support the directors with decision making as required and assist with the organisation and structure of the team. Continuously drive audit quality and demonstrate a strong awareness of the regulatory environment in which the audit team sits. Contribute effectively to the control environment for the audit department, assisting with designing and implementing team procedures and working with the directors to promote audit quality.

Client Relations

Build a strong commercial awareness and understanding of the full service offering of the ZEDRA group. This should include liaising with other departments to ensure good customer service and efficient work Manage the client expectations whilst building relationships with clients. Attend and represent the ZEDRA Group at business development events, promoting the services provided where possible.

Knowledge & Experience




Experience of leading audit engagement teams Confident liaising with client contacts and being the main client contact through the course of an audit Preferably both UK GAAP and IFRS experience Be an internal and external leader of the audit team and go to person Ideally experience of using CaseWare audit software Able to act as a mentor for assistant managers and supervisors, helping to develop the management team Able to deliver technical training updates across the firm to senior management Qualified, preferably ACA but ACCA or other qualifications may be considered Will be accountable for monitoring WIP, timesheets, billing and efficiencies across the audit portfolio Actively involved in audit tenders and proposals Be on the path to or actively looking for their RI status
