Job Title: Senior Bat Ecological Consultant

Location: Stockport, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Oxford, Southampton, South Wales, Chester, Chelmsford

The need has emerged for a Senior Ecologist to join a rapidly growing environmental consultancy in one of their offices nationwide. They are especially interested in hearing from candidates who have Natural England Bat Licences and experience leading on bat related projects.

You will work within a dynamic team of environmental scientists with cross-cutting expertise in ecology, hydrology, geomorphology, water quality, fisheries and natural capital, to deliver a range of projects for the UK water and energy industries, and their environmental regulators.

Qualifications & Experience:

Candidates with the following experience will tender a strong application.

  • At least Class 1 Natural England Bat Licence
  • Qualified to at least BSc level in a relevant discipline
  • Typically 3 years\'+ professional experience
  • Ability to demonstrate up-to-date knowledge of relevant UK legislation (Habitats Directive, the Agriculture Bill and Defra\'s 25 Year Environment Plan).
  • Excellent data management and analysis skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of working in a commercial consulting environment
  • Project management experience
  • Tendering/proposal writing experience
  • Driving license
Role & Company:

The role for the senior / principal consultant will be managing a range of projects to ensure the delivery of high quality outputs within budget. This role will also require contributing to or leading the production of competitive tenders. As an ecological consultant, you will be managing and analysis large numerical datasets, and contributing to the production of high quality, technical reports that are focused on the needs of our clients.

In joining the ecology team you will be working on protected species surveys, scoping Studies and work on EIAs, SEAs, HRAs, WFD and MCZ assessments for a wide range of developments including energy (nuclear power and renewables); oil and gas; water industry; flood defence, aggregates, coastal infrastructure developments and public sector projects. You will be primarily office-based, although site visits and client meetings will be required.
