About the Role



We are a growing and client-focused accounting practice seeking a Senior Bookkeeper to lead our bookkeeping team. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical skills, a proactive mindset, and a passion for delivering high-quality service to a diverse portfolio of clients. You will oversee junior staff, ensure accurate financial records, and manage the timely submission of VAT and other statutory returns.

Key Responsibilities



Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients across various industries.

Ensure accurate posting of transactions, bank reconciliations, and maintenance of ledgers.

Prepare and submit VAT returns, CIS returns, and other statutory filings in line with HMRC deadlines.

Liaise with clients to resolve queries and gather necessary documentation.

Supervise and support junior bookkeepers, providing guidance and training.

Review and check work completed by junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Monitor workloads and deadlines to ensure efficient delivery of services.

Collaborate with accountants and managers to support client year-end accounts and tax submissions.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of bookkeeping standards, VAT rules, and HMRC regulations.

Contribute to process improvements and the implementation of best practices within the bookkeeping function.

Qualifications & Experience



AAT qualified (MAAT preferred) or equivalent experience.

Minimum 5 years' bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accounting practice.

Proven experience supervising or mentoring junior staff.

Proficient in cloud accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Free Agent).

Strong understanding of VAT, CIS, and other HMRC compliance requirements.

Excellent communication and client service skills.

Pay: 22,559.92-26,000.00 per year
