We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing complex financial records, ensuring accuracy in bookkeeping processes, and supporting the organisation's accounting functions. The Senior Bookkeeper will play a key role in maintaining precise financial data, preparing reports, and supporting audit processes.
Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the organisation's bookkeeping operations, including ledger maintenance and reconciliation of accounts.
Prepare and process accounts payable transactions, ensuring timely payments and accurate record-keeping.
Utilise accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, and Xero to record financial transactions efficiently.
Reconcile bank statements and credit card accounts regularly to ensure accuracy of financial data.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures, including journal entries and financial statement preparation.
Support the preparation of VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements.
Collaborate with auditors during audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations of financial records.
Maintain organised records of invoices, receipts, and other relevant documentation for audit compliance.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior bookkeeping staff as required.
Experience
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or Senior Bookkeeper within a professional environment.
Extensive knowledge of accounting software Xero is essential.
Demonstrable experience managing accounts payable processes with attention to detail.
Strong understanding of bookkeeping principles, VAT regulations, and statutory compliance in the UK context.
Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
Prior experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines is desirable.
