This role is a Full-time role. (37.5 Hours per week) But we're open to a more flexible working arrangement.
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper with an AAT Level 4 qualification or a trainee accountant working towards ACCA to join our accounting practice. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in bookkeeping and accounting with proven experience working in a reputable accounting practice. You'll be processing VAT returns, preparing financial statements, completing management accounts accurately and unattended, an astute peoples person , great at telephone and face-face conversations, customer service oriented and ensuring compliance with UK accounting standards and regulations. You will be responsible for managing duties relating to multiple clients from diverse business types and individual needs.
Responsibilities
Maintain and update general ledgers, accounts payable and receivable, and bank reconciliations for multiple clients
Prepare and submit VAT returns
Assist with tax preparation and stay updated on relevant tax law changes
Generate detailed financial reports
Cross-reference information to find errors and correct them accordingly.
Process financial transactions accurately and efficiently
Act as a point of contact for clients regarding bookkeeping and financial questions
Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices within the bookkeeping function
Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards, legal record-keeping requirements, and company policies
Requirements
Minimum of 3-4 years' experience in a reputable accounting practice, with a strong background in bookkeeping and VAT
A minimum of an AAT Level 4 qualifications
Proficient in working effectively with Xero
Ideally, experience with payroll and CIS processing, but this is not essential
Knowledge of VAT compliance and submission procedures
Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and organisational abilities
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively
Ability to take ownership of their work, learn and be a responsible team member
Ability to transfer knowledge across team members
Ability to work within a professional environment.
