We are looking for someone with strong bookkeeping experience who enjoys problem-solving, improving systems, and taking ownership. You will be responsible for a group of clients, handling all aspects of their bookkeeping, VAT, CIS and payroll. You will be expected to manage your own workload, meet all internal and client deadlines, and communicate effectively with clients and their teams.

A large part of the role involves being the outsourced accounts department for several of our clients. This includes monitoring and working through their finance email inboxes, dealing with customers and suppliers, processing payments, and ensuring their finance function runs smoothly. A keen interest in systems, software and improving workflows would be a great advantage.

Bookkeeping & Payroll Tasks



Minimum 5 years' experience working in accounts (industry or practice) Ideally AAT qualified, ICB qualified, or QBE to an equivalent level Strong experience with Xero Sales and purchase ledger management Bank and credit card reconciliations Submitting VAT and CIS returns Credit control Setting up and maintaining bank feeds, payment platforms, e-commerce imports, and other third-party integrations Preparing and making supplier payments Creating and posting journals (including payroll journals) Monitoring and reconciling control accounts Working with and completing incomplete records Preparing monthly management reports Preparing year-end files to hand over to accountants End-to-end payroll, including statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.) Preparing and filing P11Ds Handling intercompany transactions Investigating discrepancies and resolving issues independently Communicating with clients, suppliers and customers Using spreadsheets confidently for analysis and reporting

Hours & Location



Minimum 20 hours per week, with the option to increase up to 30+ hours or full time for the right candidate. Mostly remote working, but you must live within 30 minutes of Ferndown, Dorset, as occasional on-site work will be required. Flexible but regular weekly hours. Quick start available
