Based at our Maidenhead offices (hybrid working 3 days office, 2 days flexible) Reporting to Head of Brand Communications and Patient Relations

Job Overview




As a Senior Brand Communications and Patient Relations Manager, you will have experience of managing multi-channel communications programmes, a strong understanding of the UK media environment and the NHS and knows how to strategically and compliantly engage with patient organisations. This person will lead, shape and execute multi-stakeholder strategies in full alignment with AbbVie's business priorities with a focus on supporting patient access to medicines and building AbbVie's external profile in key therapeutic areas.

Key responsibilities



Build positive brand and therapy area awareness to enhance the reputation of AbbVie in the UK Identify opportunities to proactively place/pitch media stories for key brands/therapy areas to positively impact the perception of the brand or raise awareness of particular diseases (within the parameters of the ABPI Code of Practice) Ensure robust KPI/metric setting and evaluation of all communications activities Act as the digital champion within the BCPR team, generating excitement to try new ideas and challenge what we have done previously Be the main point of contact for the patient organisations that are aligned to your therapy areas Work with the Global and Europe Public Affairs leads to co-create external engagement strategies and collaborate on key above country initiatives Manage and expand AbbVie's reputation with a diverse range of stakeholders (journalists, patients, patient organisations and healthcare professionals) alongside functional colleagues and ensure these relationships allow for robust and transparent dialogue Efficiently manage any external agencies or vendors, ensuring good budget management and identifying opportunities to maximise AbbVie's resources further Successfully work in a matrix operational structure, alongside Marketing, Market Access, Medical, External Affairs and other functions, including members of the in-field team, building consensus on BCPR activities and contribute beyond the function to enhance AbbVie's business priorities


Qualifications

Experience



Previous experience of working in a similar in-house pharmaceutical or healthcare communications agency role with some in-house experience essential Strong digital expertise is also essential Experience of developing and leading patient relations and integrated communications strategies Demonstrated success in the implementation of multi-channel communication campaigns and external stakeholder engagement, especially patient organisations and journalists Consumer healthcare experience desirable

Competencies



Consolidated communications programming and media relations expertise Knowledge of the UK healthcare system, including the National Health Service, Department of Health, National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and Scottish Medicines Consortium (SMC) Proven track record of establishing and maintaining relationships with patient organisations, patient communities and healthcare journalists Competencies in managing integrated multi-stakeholder and multi-channel programmes Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation) to develop and convey strategies and communications plans succinctly and in a compelling manner to ensure buy-in from the brand teams Strong decision-making and leadership skills when dealing with any issues, ensuring they are handled in a timely and sensitive manner Drive, enthusiasm and the ability to manage uncertainty whilst challenging strategy Ability to inspire confidence and influence senior leadership and external stakeholders Excellent understanding of the ABPI Code of Practice in the key areas of relevance to this role to ensure the highest compliance standards
