We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Bridging Underwriter to join a leading team in Property Finance. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for underwriting more complex transactions (typically 1m+).

You will interact closely with senior stakeholders across the business, including risk, sales, and credit approval committees, and play a key part in shaping decisions for high-value deals.

Key Responsibilities

:

Take ownership of underwriting complex bridging loans, ensuring all decisions are based on thorough financial analysis and aligned with the company's policies. Conduct in-depth client interviews and property site visits across the UK to ensure smooth transaction processes. Review a wide array of documents such as credit searches, financial accounts, bank statements, property valuations, and business appraisals to assess credit risk and make informed decisions. Prepare detailed and well-supported credit papers for submission to the committee, making compelling cases for transactions that may fall outside standard parameters. Provide mentorship to junior underwriters, guide them in case approvals, and support recommendations to the Credit Committee. Act as a subject matter expert in complex underwriting scenarios. Ensure underwriting decisions comply with internal risk frameworks and regulatory standards, contributing to the overall success and compliance of the Property Finance unit.

What We're Looking For

:

A minimum of 5 years' experience in bridging finance or commercial lending, with a strong background in underwriting complex cases involving residential and commercial properties. Expertise in reviewing financial documentation, understanding credit risk, and assessing large transactions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential. Degree or relevant business qualification (MBA, etc.), or equivalent professional experience in underwriting or banking. Exceptional attention to detail, an analytical mindset, strong decision-making ability, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to problem-solving. You should be comfortable working independently while also collaborating with colleagues at all levels.
