About The Role

FDM is a global business and technology consultancy seeking a Senior Business analyst to work for our client within the finance sector. This is initially a 12 month contract with the potential to extend and will be a hybrid role based in London.

The Regulatory Business Analyst will support our client's regulatory change initiatives across its EMEA businesses, focusing on MiFID II and emerging regulatory developments that impact financial products, trading, and client interactions. The role requires strong analytical skills, regulatory expertise, and the ability to translate complex regulations into actionable business and technology solutions.

Responsibilities:




Lead business analysis for regulatory change programmes, with a focus on MiFID II/MiFID III, EMIR Refit, and other evolving EU/UK regulations. Analyse, interpret, and communicate the impact of new regulations on business processes, product offerings, and operational models. Collaborate with stakeholders across Compliance, Front Office, Legal, Risk, Operations, and Technology to ensure consistent and compliant implementation. Develop and maintain detailed business requirements, process maps, and user stories aligned with regulatory obligations. Act as subject matter expert (SME) on MiFID II topics such as transaction reporting, best execution, product governance, client categorisation, and inducements. Provide insight into future product development, including digital assets, ESG-linked products, and innovative financing structures, assessing their regulatory implications. Conduct gap analyses and support the design of control frameworks to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance. Partner with technology teams to design and test system enhancements and ensure accurate data capture for reporting. Prepare and deliver presentations, impact assessments, and management reports for senior stakeholders. Contribute to regulatory horizon scanning and proactively identify business impacts of upcoming rule changes.

About You

Minimum 7 years' experience as a Business Analyst within an investment bank or financial institution. Proven delivery experience in regulatory change initiatives, ideally covering MiFID II, EMIR, SFTR, or similar frameworks. Strong understanding of financial markets and products (equities, fixed income, derivatives, structured products). In-depth knowledge of MiFID II/MiFID III obligations and how they apply across the front-to-back trade lifecycle. Familiarity with trade and transaction reporting systems and related data architectures. Demonstrated ability to translate regulatory text into practical business and system requirements. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills. Experience working in both Agile and Waterfall delivery environments. Highly analytical with a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. Strong Excel, Visio, and Jira/Confluence skills desirable.
