The Role:
Due to continued growth, we're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented
Senior Buyer
to join our team. You'll be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services, negotiating with suppliers, managing procurement activities, assisting with pricing for bids and tenders for our Social Housing department and ensuring timely delivery of materials and services.
You will play a key role in optimising procurement costs while maintaining high quality standards and supporting overall operational efficiency across the whole company. This is a great opportunity to influence procurement strategies within a forward-thinking, sustainability-driven business.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement effective procurement strategies aligned with company goals and project requirements across various departments
Source and assess suppliers, negotiate contracts, and secure favourable terms and rebates
Build and maintain strong, collaborative supplier and subcontractor relationships
Placing purchase orders for materials, goods, or services and expedite orders when necessary to ensure timely receipt of goods and services.
Monitor supplier performance and resolve discrepancies or issues proactively
Manage procurement costs and identify savings opportunities without compromising on quality
Implement and maintain efficient purchase order systems whilst ensuring that all purchase orders comply with organisational policies, procedures, and are within budgetary constraints.
Produce timely and accurate reports on procurement activities and budget tracking
Mentor and support buyers and procurement team members
Promote a high-performance and collaborative team culture
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Buyer or Senior Buyer preferrably within the
construction or renewable industry
Professional qualification in procurement and supply chain management (e.g.,
CIPS Level 4 Diploma or above
- Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply).
Strong knowledge of construction materials, services, and supply chain management
Excellent negotiation skills with a strong track record of achieving cost efficiencies
Highly organised with strong time management and analytical skills
Experience of using CRM systems
Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Competitive salary of 40,000-55,000 depending on experience
