Job Description




My client specialises in the design and manufacture of drive for wheelchair and up-front passenger vehicles. My client are the market leaders in vehicle innovation within this sector and as their procurement team continues to grow, they are looking for a Senior Buyer to join them. You will be based at their Head Office in Wednesbury.

As Senior Buyer, you will build on new and existing relationships with suppliers and will be responsible for the coordination and management of a designated group of suppliers. You will be dealing with contract negotiations, cap ex requests from site, and a wide range of tasks related to indirect purchasing. You will also have responsibility for an Assistant Buyer and Junior Buyer.

Hours: Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm (fully office based).

Salary: \xc2\xa325,000 - \xc2\xa330,000 (depending on experience).

The successful candidate must have:
  • At least 12 months in a Senior Buyer position/ or over 24 months as a Junior Buyer.
  • Previous experience of working with and developing a MRP system.
  • Experience in the automotive industry is beneficial but not necessary.
  • Excellent negotiation Skills.
  • Adequate product knowledge.
  • Good market knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Sage experience preferential but not mandatory.
Requirements:
  • 2 years\' procurement experience.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels within the business.
  • Understanding of manufacturing procedures.
  • Good working knowledge of an MRP system Sage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Packages.
  • Good decision maker.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong cost awareness and excellent calculation skills.
  • Ensure transparency on cost structures and spend in area of responsibility via Commodity Circles.
  • Manage the relationship with assigned strategic suppliers.
  • Identify procurement risks and opportunities and implement respective measures.
  • Strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Keep up to date with the current market by monitoring market demand and supply for products.
  • Negotiating prices with suppliers for parts and materials.
  • Communicate with the Sales Department/Production Manager about their requirements.
  • Analysing every buying opportunity and working to develop an efficient supply chain so product can be obtained easily.
  • Report writing and submitting to management.
  • Estimating future buying needs for the company.
  • Ensuring parts and material orders meet correct specifications.
  • Support implementation of MRP System.
