Job Purpose:


To act as the Senior CAD Engineer/Technician, carrying out all manner of design/drafting work and overseeing our Design and Drawing Office activities. Ensuring high-quality, timely outputs that support estimating, fabrication, and project delivery. Ensures internal and remote drafting resources are aligned with company priorities.

Key Duties:



Task Allocation & Scheduling

Assign and track drawing tasks for internal and remote drafting staff. Maintain schedules to meet project timelines. Adjust priorities to accommodate urgent operational requirements.

Quality Assurance & Standards

Review all drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance. Maintain CAD templates and drawing standards. Ensure compliance with ISO 9001/EN1090 document control procedures.

Coordination with Operations & Estimating

Provide sales/initial drawings to Estimator for quotes and client submissions. Liaise with Scheduling Chargehand and Site Managers to align drawings with project execution. Communicate effectively with remote contractors to ensure timely delivery.

Project Support & Documentation

Maintain revision control and project drawing registers. Ensure drawings are ready for fabrication and site installation. Support GM in design review or high-value project technical input.

Team Development & Process Improvement

Mentor and support drafting staff. Recommend improvements to processes, software, or workflows. Facilitate consistency, knowledge-sharing, and training within the team.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:



Strong CAD skills with technical drafting experience. Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software programs. Knowledge in design, calculations and design systems. Knowledge of fabrication, engineering, and manufacturing processes. Experience coordinating small teams or workflows. Awareness of QA and document control standards (ISO 9001/EN1090). Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, and attention to detail.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience :



Extensive experience in Solidworks. Experience in AutoCAD Fusion 360 and knowledge of CAD/CAM processing. Experience in the design of mechanical systems e.g. conveyors, vegetable handling machinery, production line automation parts. Experience of drafting pipework and structural elements. Chartered Engineer status. Experience of 3D Scanning / Point Cloud modelling
Pay will be based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate, but will in any case be at least 35,000 per year (based on a 40hr week).
