ECSL is recruiting a Senior CAD Technician to provide expert technical drawing and documentation support for our water and wastewater treatment projects. In this role, you will lead our Derby-based CAD team and take primary responsibility for converting engineering concepts into accurate, detailed drawings that underpin successful project delivery. You will work closely with engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure all outputs meet industry standards and client expectations, while also offering direction, support, and mentorship to junior team members.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
In this role, you will focus on advanced technical drafting, document control, and drawing updates for water infrastructure projects. You'll ensure that designs are accurately represented and maintained throughout the project lifecycle providing expertise and oversight. Key responsibilities will include:
Technical Drafting: Lead the creation and updating of 2D and 3D CAD drawings based on specifications from engineers and designers.
Drawing Management: Oversee and maintain accurate drawing records, revisions, and documentation throughout projects.
Compliance & Accuracy: Ensure all drawings adhere to UK highway, rail and power sector standards and promote best practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with engineers and designers, while providing mentorship to junior staff and guiding the refinement of drawings.
Software Proficiency: Use AutoCAD, Revit, and other AutoDESK suite tools to produce detailed technical drawings.
Support Project Workflows: Lead drawing reviews, modifications, and updates as project requirements are met efficiently.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
To be successful in this role, you'll need advanced technical proficiency, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage both independent work and team collaboration. Here are the key skills and competencies required:
Experience: Minimum 5 years experience in CAD drafting, with a focus in the rail or power sector
Qualifications: Advanced diploma or certification in CAD, Engineering, or a related field are preferred
Technical Proficiency: Advanced Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, or similar drafting software
Attention to Detail: Ability to produce precise and accurate drawings with minimal errors, and review others' work for quality assurance
Teamwork: Strong communication skills to effectively oversee a team of CAD Technicians and collaborate with engineers and designers
Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of UK water industry standards and ability to apply them to complex projects.
Organisational Skills: Ability to manage and update multiple drawing sets efficiently within project timelines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & LOCATION:
This role is based in Derby, UK, office, with flexible working arrangements available.
We offer hybrid working as standard, allowing you to balance office collaboration with remote flexibility. Occasional travel to project sites may be required to support project delivery and client engagement. You will work closely with a dynamic team of engineers, designers, and project managers across our offices, ensuring seamless project execution and technical excellence.
