The Senior Care Assistant / Team Leader is responsible for delivering high-quality care to clients in their homes and providing leadership and support to the care team. This role involves both office-based administrative duties and fieldwork, ensuring that clients receive personalised, effective and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Client Care:
- Provide personal care and support to clients, including assistance with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing and meal preparation.
- Support clients with specialist needs, such as stoma or catheter care, promoting their mental, physical and emotional well-being.
- Assist clients with household tasks, including cleaning, bed-making and managing refuse, to maintain a safe and comfortable living environment.
2. Team Leadership:
- Support and mentor care workers in providing practical assistance to service users, ensuring adherence to care plans and company policies.
- Conduct assessments and sign off on new care workers' shadowing rotas, ensuring they are adequately prepared for their roles.
- Act as a point of contact for care workers, providing guidance and addressing any concerns or issues that arise during service delivery.
3. Administrative Duties:
- Participate in the recruitment, induction, training and supervision of care staff, ensuring they are equipped to deliver high-quality care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, including care plans and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve service delivery and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
4. Quality Assurance:
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor care delivery, ensuring that care plans are followed and clients' needs are met effectively.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, including audits and service evaluations, to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement and monitor health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring a safe working environment for staff and clients.
5. Communication and Liaison:
- Maintain effective communication with clients, families, care staff and external agencies, ensuring a coordinated approach to care delivery.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals to coordinate client care, ensuring that all aspects of clients' health and well-being are addressed.
- Represent the company in a professional manner at all times, upholding the organisation's values and promoting its services.
Qualifications and Experience:
- At least two years of experience in a senior support role within domiciliary care.
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including care management software.
- Full driving license and access to a vehicle.
