An opportunity has arisen to join our Ofsted Registered Children's Home. Utopia Supported Housing has been providing supported housing for young people since 2016 and has now opened its first Registered Children's Home. We work with Ofsted and local authorities to provide a high-quality provision where children can safely grow and be given the chance to create a positive future.
We are looking for Senior Care Practitioners who know how to make a house a home and are passionate about making a difference to children's lives.
Do you have experience of working with children who may have had traumatic backgrounds, emotional & behavioural difficulties, childhood trauma and complex behavioural needs or do you have caring, empathetic & supportive qualities that you feel may make you an excellent support worker, if so, we would love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ability to successfully care for Looked After Children in a residential childcare environment
- General housekeeping and preparing food
- Good level of IT skills to complete the necessary paperwork
- Excellent communication skills
- The ability to prioritise and multitask
- Display professionalism and liaise with local professionals and local authorities regularly
- Display empathy and understanding when liaising with families
- Proactivity and able to use initiative
- Key working skills
- Ability to engage with children with emotional, behavioural and psychological difficulties as a result of adverse childhood experiences, mental health issues, domestic abuse, substance misuse, sexual abuse and learning difficulties
- Affectively supporting children in the community, cinema trips, swimming, theme parks, supported shopping etc.
Training and Qualifications:
- Have or be willing to work towards a Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare
- Mandatory training modules will be provided
- Knowledge of the Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and OFSTED Regulation is desirable but not essential
- Minimum required working age of 21 years
- Experience of working in a similar setting is desirable

Salary:
29,000.00 per year (based on full time 40hrs per week)
Work Schedule:
There are two shift patterns available and employees must be able to cover a variety of both early and late shifts 07:30-15:30 and 14:30-22:30. Full time employees will cover five days per week. Our rotas cover Monday-Sunday (including bank holidays). Rotas are published roughly 2-3 weeks in advance. Sleeping on-site may be required when working the late shift and this is paid additionally to the salary.
Utopia Supported Housing provides a robust induction programme, full training and shadow shifts will be provided alongside support from your Team Leaders and managers.
