London based (Hybrid)



We are currently looking for a Senior Citrix Engineer to join the Global CITRIX team which is part of the broader EMEA Infrastructure and Virtualisation team.

The CITRIX team consists of 2 people in EMEA with assistance from an engineer in central US. The broader team made up of different disciplines has 12 members globally.

The team are responsible for managing and supporting the 600 CITRIX hosted applications with over 1k app icons globally, across 400 windows servers in all life cycle environments.

We are seeking a skilled Application packaging Support engineer to join our Citrix app support team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting the applications hosted on the Citrix environment to ensure seamless remote access and application delivery for end-users. This role requires strong technical expertise in application packaging, provisioning and Citrix technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.

What you will be doing:



Engaging with the business and working closely with vendors to update or upgrade applications. Establish standards and best practices for Citrix and application components, ensuring that said standards are enforced and adhered too. Monitor, manage, and maintain the Citrix infrastructure, including Xen Desktop, Citrix DaaS and related components. Provide second and third-level support for Citrix-related issues, including application publishing, session performance, and user access problems. Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity, performance, and security issues within the Citrix environment. Collaborate with network, server, and application teams to ensure integration and optimal performance of Citrix solutions. Perform routine system health checks, patching, updates, and configuration changes to Citrix servers and components. Assist in the deployment and upgrade of Citrix environments following best practices and organizational standards. Document procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference and knowledge sharing. Provide end-user support and training as needed to improve the user experience and adoption of Citrix solutions. Ensure compliance with security policies and industry standards related to remote access and virtualization. Participate in on-call rotation and incident response for Citrix-related outages or critical issues.

What you'll need:

Create and optimize application packages for deployment in Citrix environments (XenApp, XenDesktop), ensuring compatibility and performance. Convert traditional installers (MSI, EXE) into Citrix-ready packages, addressing issues related to multi-user environments, file system redirection, and registry virtualization. Test packaged applications within Citrix sessions for stability, performance, and conflict resolution. Work closely with vendors and other infrastructure teams to integrate application packages into published desktops and server farms. Troubleshoot and resolve packaging and deployment issues unique to Citrix environments. Document packaging procedures, configurations, and Citrix-specific considerations. Automate packaging tasks and streamline processes using scripting tools like PowerShell. Support application updates, patching, and lifecycle management tailored for Citrix delivery. Collaborate with application owners and vendors to understand software requirements in virtualized settings. Stay current on Citrix packaging best practices and virtualization technologies. Good understanding Citrix provisioning services Strong understanding of network infrastructure and DNS services, demonstrating understanding of network routing, firewall considerations and DNS contributions to Citrix and server operations. Demonstrate a solid understanding of Microsoft Azure cloud services, including core offerings such as Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Active Directory, Azure Storage, and Azure Networking. Proficient in scripting and automation, particularly using PowerShell to develop and manage automated deployment tasks and system configurations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening, clearly articulating complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences (written or verbally) and facilitating effective collaboration across teams.

Skills working with containers such as Azure Kubernetes (AKS), design, manage and maintenance of cloud AKS cluster or on-premise clusters. Monitoring health and performance cost and scale using central management tooling. Understanding of Infrastructure as code (IaC) working automation workflows using Terraform, TFE, and GitHub.
