Senior Clinical Research Fellow In Metabolic Medicine

Job Description

This is a 12 month fixed term senior clinical research fellow post in Metabolic Medicine at MN37 grade. The post has the potential to be extended 12 months at a time on a rolling basis subject to performance.



Successful candidates will join enthusiastic and dynamic research teams comprising of clinicians, residents and research specialist nurses with ongoing projects in the department of Metabolic medicine.. Successful candidates will be expected to take part in recruitment and data collection for ongoing departmental research studies and will also be involved in the expansion of commercial trial work.



The department of Metabolic Medicine is based in the University Hospital Llandough and covers a diverse portfolio of research including investigative work on metabolic disorders, lipid disorders, cardiovascular health and obesity. Boasting strong links with endocrinology, cardiology and with Cardiff University, the candidate will gain both clinical trial and lab based research experience.



MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



This is a full time research post. No clinical commitments will be outlined in this job description. Please note that clinical duties undertaken should be agreed with your research supervisor and not be outside the scope of your clinical competence and grade of training. All work undertaken for all services provided by the department within a flexible working week will not be in excess of the 48 hour/week EWTD regulations.



CLINICAL RESEARCH FACILITY (CRF)- successful candidates will provide clinical cover for any research studies pertaining to their subspecialty that involve the patient clinical trial journey taking them via the CRF. There is a CRF at both the University Hospital Wales site and University Hospital Llandough site. The successful candidate will also be expected to cover the University Hospital Llandough CRF for non-metabolic medicine patients.



Candidates must be GCP (Good Clinical Practice) trained.



CARDIFF & VALE RESEARCH FELLOW PROGRAMME- all successful candidates will automatically become part of the Research Fellow Programme in Cardiff & Vale.



A fellow would be supported to attend departmental teaching and training sessions where possible on further discussion with the clinical director.
