Job Description

University Hospitals of North Midlands is currently unable to provide sponsorship this role. This is in accordance with UKVI guidelines and legislation, as these roles do not meet the skill nor salary threshold for sponsorship.   • GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or Level 2 Functional Skills for Maths and English.
If you hold overseas GCSE equivalent qualifications, you will need to bring an ECCTIS comparability statement for you GCSE equivalent qualifications along with your original certificate
  • A Full Care Certificate ORNVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care (we can only accept NVQ's from a regulated awarding body).
If you do not bring the above qualifications to your interview, then the interview will not proceed.
Main duties of the job
Provide a high standard of direct care for patients pre and post joint replacement and other orthopaedic procedures workingwith the team to promote early post operative mobilisation as appropriate and support in length of stay and facilitate safe discharge from hospital
To document accurately in line with UHNM Trust policy
To be involved in the induction and mentoring of new staff where applicable. Act as role model to junior members of the team.

Job responsibilities
The Band 3 senior clinical support worker role involves a combination of clinical and non-clinical duties, with an emphasis on working within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team, supporting registered nurses and healthcare professionals. This will include completing clinical and non-clinical tasks under direct and indirect supervision.
As a Senior Clinical Support Worker in the Elective Orthopaedic Ward, you will play an essential role in delivering safe, effective, and person-centred care to patients who have had orthopaedic surgery, for example hip and knee replacements
Your main role and responsibilities will include:
Delivering personal care including washing, dressing, toileting, and assisting with meals in a way that maintains dignity and respects patient preferences
Supporting patients mobility and promoting independence, including the use of appropriate mobility aids
Carrying out clinical observations such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation, and blood glucose (following training and competency) escalating any concerns to the registered nurse
Assisting with admission, discharge, and transfer of patients
Accurately documenting care given and escalating concerns promptly to the registered nurse
Contributing to a clean and safe environment by adhering to infection control policies and maintaining high standards of hygiene
Working collaboratively with all members of the multidisciplinary team
Ensure training is kept up to date and engage in the appraisal processes to support your professional development
