Job Description

Senior Cloud Solution Architect is remotely based in the UK & reports to Director, Enterprise Architecture.



Purpose of role:



The successful candidate will help to shape the technical architecture for the next generation of products at Ocean Technologies Group. You'll work with stakeholders including, Customers, Product Managers, Development Teams and the rest of the R&D team to understand the unique challenges of the maritime industry. Researching new cutting-edge technology, techniques, and patterns you'll create an architecture to overcome those challenges, communicate them to the rest of the business and see it through to fruition.

Key Responsibilities:


Taking business requirements and creating architectural designs to meet those requirements, Creating, reviewing and approving designs in Confluence and feeding into Jira backlogs for development, Reviewing and defining Architectural Patterns and reviewing designs against those patterns, Researching new technologies, including third party suppliers, with a view to making firm, well considered, recommendation to the development and product teams, Prototyping solutions and documenting your findings to a level when they can be fully implemented, Defining Standards to leverage the best of new technology to improve, security and development efficiency, Communicating and enforcing Architecture and Standards with Development.




Skills, Knowledge, and Experience Required:


Educational Attainment



BSc Hons, in a STEM subject

Expected Areas of Competence:



The ideal candidate will have, three years Architecture experience, at least half of the skills and experience listed below and be willing and able to acquire those they don't have quickly:

Microservice Architecture
Event Driven Architectures, such as CQRS
Micro frontends
Messaging technologies such as SQS, RabbitMQ, ...
AWS Infrastructure
Docker and Kubernetes
Linux Development
The Elastic/ELK Stack
Identity and Access Management technologies
Service Mesh Technologies
DevOps CI/CD pipelines

It would also be highly beneficial to have experience of .NET Core development.
