Balfour Beatty is seeking a high-calibre
Senior Commercial Manager
to lead commercial excellence on our
Energy Build Projects
in Aberdeen and the surrounding region. This is a pivotal leadership position driving commercial performance and project success across a strategic portfolio within the energy sector.
You'll work closely with sector heads, delivery teams, and key stakeholders to ensure that commercial strategies align with business objectives while delivering value, mitigating risks, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
What you'll be doing
Lead and manage all commercial aspects across energy build projects from work winning to project close-out
Collaborate with sector leadership to drive project delivery aligned with the Business Management System (BMS) and wider business strategy.
Ensure robust commercial governance and contract compliance across projects.
Prepare and review monthly commercial reports, CVRs, and financial forecasts.
Support subcontract strategy, procurement, and contractual negotiations.
Identify and manage risk and opportunities, supporting dispute resolution where needed.
Foster a high-performing, solution-focused commercial team and nurture rising talent.
Promote Balfour Beatty's values, Zero Harm initiative, and sustainability goals.
Who we're looking for
Required Experience & Skills
Significant experience in a senior commercial role within the construction or energy infrastructure sector.
Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing large-scale commercial teams and complex projects.
Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, with exceptional negotiation and communication skills.
Proven track record of successful contract management (NEC, FIDIC or similar) and commercial governance.
Commercially astute with excellent financial and analytical capability.
Proficient in identifying risks, delivering strategic solutions, and enhancing margin performance.
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline.
Chartered Member of RICS (or working towards) preferred.
Valid CSCS card.
Full UK Driving Licence (travel within region required).
