About the role



Balfour Beatty's Regional Buildings team delivers high-quality construction projects across a wide-ranging portfolio of major building schemes. We are now seeking an experienced

Senior Commercial Manager

to join our business and lead commercial excellence across complex and strategically significant projects.



In this key leadership role, you will drive commercial performance and ensure robust governance throughout the full project lifecycle. From tendering and procurement through to delivery and final account, you will provide authoritative commercial guidance, shape best practice, and support the successful delivery of our Regional Buildings programme.

What you'll be doing



As a

Senior Commercial Manager

you will:


Lead commercial management across building projects, ensuring accurate cost control and reporting. Oversee contract administration, with strong understanding of NEC and JCT forms of contract. Produce detailed cost forecasts, manage risk, and implement mitigation strategies. Drive value engineering and challenge assumptions to deliver best value outcomes. Manage procurement strategies and negotiate major subcontract packages. Lead and develop commercial teams, fostering a culture of quality, collaboration, and high performance. Build strong and proactive relationships with clients, consultants, supply chain, and internal stakeholders. Ensure all commercial activities align with Balfour Beatty governance and Regional Buildings standards.



Who we're looking for

You will have the following:




Significant commercial management experience within the buildings or construction sector. Strong technical understanding of NEC and JCT contracts. Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to influence key decisions. Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide, mentor and develop others. Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities. Professional qualifications such as RICS/MRICS (advantageous but not essential).
