About the role


Our Balfour Beatty Highways business has a terrific opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our team on the M3 Junction 9 project. The project involves upgrading the M3 to four lanes through junction 9 and widening the gyratory, with completion expected in Spring 2028. The project is located east of Winchester, within the South Downs National Park

We provide high quality asset strategy, management and planning consultancy services to a wide range of public and private sector customers. We provide specialist, reliable, sustainable and creative advice for asset management planning and implementation in the UK. We put our customers first and prioritise completing schemes safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
What you'll be doing


Governance

Has a good knowledge of and adheres to the Company's governance requirements to maximise LEAN/digital opportunities.
Ensures staff have a good knowledge of and adhere to the Company's GMCEs, BMS and other governance


Commercial Management

An ability to see bigger picture and prioritise business opportunities.
Understands how economic factors affect the construction industry.
Application of legislation and ability to liaise with legal experts.
Preparation of Estimates & Tender submissions including the interpretation of
specifications & preambles



Commercial Administration

Provides commercial input to Buildability and Value Engineering reviews.
The ability to review tenders & cost data.
To manage the preparation of budgets and Target Cost for a Project.
Leads commercial aspects with Customer and stakeholders.


Procurement

Establish client supply chain requirements & advise on alternative forms of contract & procurement arrangements.
Formulation and management of plans for resource procurement. Development, Recruitment and Retention
Recruitment, management, development and retention of staff


Who we're looking for




BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
Membership or Fellowship of RICS, ICES or CIOB (or working towards)
CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person)
