About us

------------

UCL is a radically different university. Founded in 1826 in the heart of London, we were the first university in England to welcome students of any religion and the first to welcome women to university education. Today UCL has over 50,000 students and 16,000 staff and is one of the world's top 10 universities.

The department of the Vice President External Engagement coordinates UCL's engagement with a range of audiences, raising the university's profile and influence, and managing its reputation. It promotes the public value of UCL's research and partnerships to the future of Britain and globally. It is a service-driven function made up of communications and marketing professionals who deliver sector-leading media relations, public affairs, institutional communications, brand and integrated marketing, student recruitment, and events.

About the role

------------------

Working closely with Communications Managers, you will help shape key messages and themes that align with UCL's strategy, coordinating communications across Faculties and Vice Provosts' Offices, and support the development of UCL's Research Domains and Health Strategy. You will also take responsibility for keeping UCL webpages up to date, managing internal communications via email marketing platforms, and working with external designers and agencies to produce compelling digital and print content.

Alongside content creation, you will regularly review and analyse the performance of communications channels and campaigns, using data insights to suggest improvements. Collaboration will be at the heart of your work, whether you are supporting colleagues across the External Engagement portfolio, contributing to events communications, or participating in graduation ceremonies and Open Days as part of the wider team.

This role offers the chance to bring fresh ideas, embrace innovation and help UCL continually improve how we communicate and engage with our diverse community. By developing inclusive communications that reflect the voices across UCL, you will play an important part in strengthening connections across the university.

Please note, this is a fixed-term post covering a career break, available with an

immediate start until 01 Feb 2026. Please apply with your CV and application supporting statement detailing how you meet the essential and/or desirable criteria as listed on the attached job description.

Please note this role is available on a hybrid basis (2-ays onsite) out of our Bidborough House office in London King Cross/St Pancras.

About you

You'll be confident working independently as well as collaboratively, able to manage multiple priorities under pressure, and consistently meet deadlines while maintaining high standards.
