Job Description

Tricel is recruiting for a Senior Company Accountant position based in Leeds. Reporting functionally to the Group Financial Controller (HQ, Ireland) with a dotted line to the Managing Director, this is a highly hands on finance role with responsibility for day to day accounting activities, monthly reporting, and operational finance processes. In addition, the position will play a key part in overall site governance - working closely with the Managing Director to ensure efficient operations throughout the business and strong internal controls - and will include managing and guiding the site book keeper, providing oversight of transactional activities and credit control.



Responsibilities





The Senior Company Accountant will be primarily responsible for the following;


Own the site's full P&L and balance sheet, executing key accounting processes to deliver accurate month-end close and insightful variance analysis, with this role responsible for presenting the management accounts to senior leadership on a monthly basis Perform and oversee daily and weekly finance tasks, including cash accounting, GL ledger postings, accounts payable, credit card management, balance sheet reconciliations and other core accounting processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting Manage the full monthly payroll process, from gathering and validating inputs through to finalising payments, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion Manage stock accuracy by overseeing stock counts, monitoring stock KPIs, and ensuring robust financial controls around inventory processes, working closely with the Warehouse Manager to maintain integrity and efficiency Lead the annual budgeting cycle while providing insightful and actionable analysis to site/Group leadership on sales performance, RMS% and other cost drivers to guide commercial decisions Review and report on margin performance, partnering with Sales to support its optimisation Lead and actively support the site through the external audit process--coordinating requirements, preparing schedules and reconciliations, resolving queries, and ensuring a smooth, timely, and fully compliant annual statutory audit cycle. Execute various compliance filings - including VAT returns, Intrastat submissions, payroll reporting, and pension filings - ensuring accuracy and timeliness Act as the site's working capital steward, overseeing cash inflows and outflows, optimizing collections (DSO) and supplier payments (DPO), and driving initiatives to improve liquidity Provide oversight of general site activities to ensure operational efficiency and strong internal controls, working closely with the Managing Director to maintain governance and compliance standards Ensure strict adherence to Group policies and statutory requirements through robust controls, reconciliations, and audit readiness Drive Finance's role in TOP-X (Tricel's Operational Excellence program) by coordinating team efforts to embed KPIs, streamline processes, and deliver continuous improvement across the site Support the business in relation to general development or ad-hoc projects and issues

Candidate Profile




Qualified Accountant with strong technical and commercial grounding Strong business acumen and analytical skills, with experience in FP&A, budgeting, and variance analysis Strong IT proficiency, including Excel and ERP systems (IFS or similar) Highly hands-on and proactive, able to work independently, take initiative, and drive tasks to completion while maintaining exceptional attention to detail Strong compliance and control orientation, ensuring adherence to internal policies and statutory requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and influence stakeholders
