We are currently seeking a Senior Construction Manager to be based onsite at our prestigious PFI contract at MoD Main Building in Westminster, to Facilitate implementation of construction aspects of projects, to ensure successful delivery, working closely with onsite project managers.
Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee subcontractors, labour and material requirements for the contract and support Project Managers with matters primarily relating to on site activities.
• Putting subcontractors to work via Safe Starts, daily briefings, and toolbox talks. Ensure all relevant permits are in place briefed to the teams and understood by all parties.
• Visit teams daily, do visual inspections daily and formal inspections weekly.
• Ensure there is adequate welfare facilities, and these are kept compliant.
• Assist in understanding the design process and report to project manager/design team any design anomalies.
• Manage, control, and liaise with the work trade contractors, labour, plan, and material requirements for the contract
• Solve site problems when they occur, providing feedback to Project Managers on any defects or defaults found and put forward any innovative ideas to alter current methodology.
• Ensure good communications within the project team, manage any students or trainees who may be in the project team. This includes briefing, delegating, supervising, conducting appraisals and assisting with development issues.
• Support with the scoping of work and development of project proposals.

Skills /Experience Required

• Previous experience of commercial offices fit out works / or facilities construction projects.
• Previous experience for a tier 1 main contractor [ with commercial mixed use project experience preferred]
• Management experience of multi trade contractors.
• Construction related qualification to NVQ level 6 or above.
• Able to gain SC up to DV level.
• HV AP.

This role requires a minimum level of security clearance and may also require a higher level of National Security Vetting. You should be aware that certain levels of clearance or specific projects and/or sites have UK residency requirements; and any dual or multiple nationalities must be declared. Any persons who do not fulfil these residencies requirements may be unable to obtain the required level of clearance and would not be eligible to undertake this role.
