Lead the operational strategy that keeps our energy networks safe, stable and efficient
Based at Ansty, with travel to Leicester Site (3 days a week in the office)
As a Senior Control Engineer in our Energy Control Centre (ECC), you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of our gas transportation network. This isn't just about monitoring flows or reacting to events - it's about shaping operational strategy, coordinating access to the network, and providing expert engineering leadership in a fast-moving, high-responsibility environment.
Working at the heart of the ECC, you'll apply your technical knowledge, operational experience and calm decision-making to keep energy flowing for over 11 million customers. You'll influence stakeholders across the business, guide operational teams, and ensure our plans, responses and processes are robust, safe and future-ready.
This is a highly visible and influential role where your engineering judgement will directly shape how Cadent manages its network today - and how we evolve it for tomorrow.

Operational Leadership - Be jointly responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the gas transportation network.

Continuous Improvement - Drive enhancements to ECC processes, governance and tools, embedding best practice and supporting a culture of operational excellence.
What you'll bring
You're an experienced operational engineer with strong technical grounding, confident decision-making and the ability to lead in a dynamic Control Centre environment.
Technical & Professional
STEM A-levels or degree
Professional registration with IGEM or IMechE
Strong understanding of gas transportation, fluid dynamics and regulated utility operations
Knowledge of Energy Control Centre functions and Control Centre environments
Operational Experience
Background in distribution network operations
Practical experience in fast-paced engineering or operational settings
Ability to analyse complex issues and understand wider business and industry impacts
Leadership & Collaboration
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
Experience guiding teams and supporting continuous improvement
Decision Making
Confident problem-solver with sound engineering judgement
Able to manage conflicting priorities with accuracy and urgency
We will look to plan interviews in week commencing the 2nd February at our head office in Ansty, Coventry.
