To work within the Birmingham / Nottingham Cost Management team, providing Development Monitoring Services.

The successful candidate will support the team in maintaining a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients and reinforcing our reputation as trusted adviser and preferred provider to our Clients.

The role will include the delivery of appointments to a wide range of banks and development funders, across multiple sectors including residential, student accommodation and commercial. Current projects range from \xc2\xa30.5m to \xc2\xa350m and we are positioned on the panels of all major Banks and Development Funders.

This is a varied role where you will be required to advise on all aspects of development costs, programme, procurement, statutory approvals and the wider aspects of risk relating to a development, acting as the eyes and ears of the Funder.

The role entails producing written initial and monthly reports whilst managing deadlines on numerous projects that vary across sectors.

The role will also include identification & securing of new and repeat business leads and opportunities to support business growth.

The opportunity would suit a Chartered Surveyor who has experience in the delivery of Development Monitoring Surveying Commissions who is interested in a role providing autonomy to further develop and grow the service line and wishes to step up to a service line leadership role within this area of expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide due diligence advice to development funders to inform lending decisions and to protect their interests.
  • Regular site visits.
  • Writing Initial Reports and Periodic Monitoring Reports.
  • Significant client and third party contact including attending client / developer meetings and liaison with Lawyers, Valuer\xe2\x80\x99s and the Funder\xe2\x80\x99s wider Professional team.
  • Balancing a varied workload meeting deadlines and exceeding client expectations.
  • Managing and prioritising work to facilitate client requirements at busy times.
  • Identifying new leads and growing client relationships through the delivery process.
  • Taking an active role in supporting the growth of the service line through developing new opportunities, overseeing and supporting the delivery of commissions by other team members.
Qualifications
  • MRICS Chartered Quantity Surveyor
  • Experience of private sector development projects (residential and student accommodation experience would be beneficial)
  • Specific knowledge and expertise of property finance / due diligence / project monitoring
  • Track record of managing client relationships
  • Excellent client facing skills with an affinity for building relationships with clients, developers and professional consultants
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • Well organised, diligent, proactive, assertive, well disciplined and commercially astute
  • Strong IT & Presentation Skills
  • Articulate Report Writing Skills
  • Confidence to constructively challenge the client\xe2\x80\x99s, developer\xe2\x80\x99s, contractor\xe2\x80\x99s and professional consultant\xe2\x80\x99s views or expectations when necessary
  • Able to multi-task, prioritise and balance numerous activities and demands, in short time periods / deadlines
  • An understanding of the wider aspects of development (cost, programme, procurement, planning, building control, statutory bodies, appointments and building contract types and risk)
