Job Description

The role at St Giles Trust involves working full-time in Cardiff, embedded within a police station, to support young people at risk of exploitation and county lines involvement. Responsibilities include advocacy, risk assessment, multi-agency collaboration, and promoting positive lifestyle changes. 27,000 per annum
Please note successful candidates should expect to be appointed at the starting point of the salary scale and consideration may be given to a higher salary depending on the experience of the individual.

Role Outline

-Working with professionals Multi Agency to identify any young people involved in County Lines. Working 1:1 with young people to identify areas of risk, exploitation concerns and liaise with professionals to advocate and support for the needs of the young person. This role will be working closely with Police as you will be embedded within the station team. Also working closely with Youth Justice services and social care teams.

Hold a caseload of young people identified at risk or involved in county lines or criminal exploitation Conduct holistic assessment to understand each young persons needs, risks and protective factors Work with a professional network to gain suitable referrals Confidently input data into case management systems Implement and review individual action plans considering personal circumstances and goals Identify, assess and manage risk related to Criminal exploitation, missing episodes, substance misuse and violence To develop and maintain relationships with regional agencies, including police and social services, in areas where identified county lines activity is taking place. To close cases efficiently and positively, developing a plan for the client that will identify agencies that can be used for ongoing support and agencies that can be used if serious problems develop in the future. Escalate safeguarding concerns promptly in line with legislation and St Giles procedures To promote the value of lifestyle changes to the client group. Ensuring that confidentiality and security of information is maintained in accordance with our Confidentiality, Data Protection, IT and Security policies. Promoting sustainable working practices and reducing the environmental impact of St Giles work. Demonstrating an understanding of and commitment to St Giles values and to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Demonstrates a strong understanding of St Giles approach to employing and developing lived experience including how it is applied in line with our values.

Experience, Knowledge & Qualifications



Personal or professional experience of the criminal justice system, lived experience of the issues facing this client group and/or experience of working with 'high risk', vulnerable children, young people and/or families Substantial experience of providing support, advice and advocacy and communicating the needs of clients to other professionals Substantial experience of assessing the needs of children and young people who are at risk of significant harm and exploitation Experience in working as part of a multiagency team, working together to achieve positive outcomes for young people and establishing links to further the aims of a project Experience of using support plans, to enable people to successfully access support services Substantial experience of engaging successfully with young people, who have complex needs, who are reluctant to discuss their needs, and have barriers to engagement. Substantial experience of assessing risk and implementing safety procedures when thinking about children and young people involved in or at risk of violence or exploitation Proven experience of working in a high intensity environment, with an ability to effectively manage your own wellbeing

Knowledge

A knowledge of relevant services for young people and their families in the service provision area Knowledge and an understanding of issues facing this client group such as youth offending, knife crime, social exclusion and isolation, child criminal exploitation, adverse childhood experiences and trauma Knowledge of anti-discriminatory working practices, and the implications of both within the working environment. Ability to be a flexible and collaborative member of a team. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the issues faced by our client group, in particular barriers faced by people with lived experience.
