Background

The School of Communication and Creativity brings together our renowned Department of Journalism with two new Departments of Media, Culture and Creative Industries and Performing Arts. The School will support and develop the next generation of practitioners to work across the cultural, creative and media sectors.

Based near the vibrant West End, with close industry links, Urdang has provided outstanding conservatoire-style training in Dance and Musical Theatre for over 50 years and is now an integral part of the Department of Performing Arts at City, University of London. Our triple threat programme offers the next generation of fearless multi-hyphenates intensive specialist training in dance, singing and acting, equipping them with the skills needed for a career in the professional entertainment industry.

Responsibilities

The Senior Course Officer will support Urdang administratively as well as leading on key projects and events throughout the academic year. There will be day to day supervision and line management responsibility of the Course Officer.

Duties include; Timetabling, studio bookings, creating the Academic Year Planner, facilitating public performances and industry events, creating and maintaining supporting documents for curriculum management, providing administrative support to the student experience.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will need to have excellent interpersonal and IT skills (MS Office, SITS , Moodle) including experience of handling advanced computerised record systems and the ability to oversee the development of administrative systems and procedures. The candidate will have excellent organisational skills, an ability to plan and manage workloads to meet tight deadlines, experience of working in a busy university administrative office, knowledge of the performing arts industry and a vocational training environment are essential.
