Join us at the Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) as a Senior Cyber Security Engineer where you will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cybersecurity defences, with a focus on Microsoft security technologies, Zero Trust principles, and identity and access management.

You'll be part of a dynamic team dedicated to helping people across the UK improve their financial wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:



Design, implement, and manage security controls for Microsoft Azure, M365 environments and other business areas as required. Develop and implement Zero Trust security architectures and strategies. Manage and maintain identity and access management (IAM) systems and processes. Conduct security assessments and vulnerability testing to identify and mitigate risks. Monitor security systems and analyse security events that are escalated from our managed SOC, to detect and respond to incidents. Develop and maintain security policies, standards, and procedures. Provide technical security guidance and support to other IT teams and other business areas. Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions. Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and best practices. Lead security projects and initiatives. Good stakeholder management and cross team working skills

You will need to demonstrate the following skills and experience:



Bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field. Hold certification in either CISSP or CISM. Minimum of 8 years of experience in technical security roles. Strong knowledge of Microsoft security technologies, including Azure Security Center, Microsoft Defender, Azure Sentinel, and Microsoft 365 security features. Extensive experience with Zero Trust security principles and implementation. Deep understanding of identity and access management (IAM) concepts and technologies, including EntraID. Any experience of government systems and audits such as OneLogin or GovAssure are highly desirable. Experience with security frameworks and standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, CyberEssentials Plus and CIS. Strong understanding of networking protocols, operating systems, and security technologies, such as firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and SIEM. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong work ethic and commitment to security best practices.

Flexible Working


At MaPS, we take pride in our flexible approach to work. As standard, we work on a hybrid basis with a minimum of 2 days in the office per week. Hybrid working is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and our headquarters in Bedford will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business needs, but personal and other relevant circumstances will also be considered. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post.
