The School of Health & Medical Sciences (SHMS) combines the previous St George's School of Health & Medical Sciences and City's School of Health & Psychological Sciences, and is now one of the largest suppliers of the health workforce in the capital. We are a leading provider of education in the fields of healthcare, medicine and psychology, offering a wide breadth of courses. Our legacy institutions have a strong tradition of excellence in education, including over 250 years of experience in medical training and more than 140 years in nursing education.
SHMS are looking to appoint a fixed term, full-time Senior Department Operations Coordinator (Maternity Cover) within the Student and Academic Administration. This is role is covering maternity leave until November 2026. This unique role combines the responsibilities of supporting project planning, execution, and monitoring with providing high-quality administrative assistance to the School's Head of Academic Services and wider Student and Academic Administration department.
Responsibilities

The post holder will work closely with the Head of Academic Services (HoAS) and relevant teams within the School and Department to support and co-ordinate key projects, systems, and events within required timeframes.
This will include drafting and assisting in the maintenance of project documentation and action tracking, servicing project and committee meetings, and liaising with colleagues and departments across the School and University. The postholder will also line manage the Department Operations Team, which includes three Helpdesk Administrators who cover the SHMS Helpdesks at 2 site locations within the Clerkenwell campus. The successful candidate will demonstrate previous experience in a similar role and be educated to degree level, with an eye for detail and ability to work to deadlines. They will also possess excellent communication and organisation skills, with an ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
The post holder is expected to maintain complete confidentiality at all times and to represent the department and HoAS in a professional, efficient and courteous manner. They will be a central communication point for staff within the department and other contacts within the School and external contacts.
