About this Role

An exceptional candidate is sought for the post of Senior Deputy Head for September 2026 to lead the day-to-day running of this dynamic and successful school, including staff matters and direct line management of the pastoral and co-curricular leaders. As the title of the post suggests, the holder will deputise for the Head Master in his absence. The post is available following the appointment of the current incumbent to Headship after three years in the role and provides a fantastic opportunity to be involved in leadership decisions throughout the school.


The successful candidate will have a passion for the pastoral care and well-being of pupils and staff, along with the ambition to challenge, develop ideas and inspire at all levels. You will be an experienced manager, an innovative leader, and be fully supportive of the all-round ethos and strategic vision of the school. You will have the ability to lead the school in the Head Master's absence.


The School has its own salary scale (well above national scales) and the post will be rewarded generously in accordance with the importance of the position. There is substantial fee remission for children of teaching staff in all the Harpur Trust Schools in Bedford.
