We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Design Engineer to join our team in Belfast supporting one of our clients in the marine sector. This is a contract based out of Belfast working on site. The rate is negotiable based on experience, seniority, etc. Ideally candidates will have design experience, preferably in the marine sector,ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.



As a Design Engineer every day at Expleo will be out of the ordinary and will require you to be dynamic and responsive to changes in technology, innovation, and client requirements. You will have the opportunity to be involved in the design of an innovative vessel.


Responsibilities:
3D model and production of 2D systems layouts for the vessel assembly

System Design & Integration

+ Lead design activities for mechanical and electrical systems including bilge, fire suppression, wiper systems, and other critical installations.
+ Ensure compliance with

Lloyd's Register

,

DNV

, and customer specifications.

3D Modelling & Documentation

+ Create and manage detailed

3D models

and

2D drawings

using

CATIA V5/V6 (3DS)

.
+ Release accurate design documentation and drawings for production.

Weight Management

+ Perform weight calculations across components and assemblies to meet vessel weight targets.
+ Implement material changes and weight-saving strategies where necessary.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

+ Work closely with internal departments and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of compliant systems and components.
+ Participate in design reviews and resolve technical issues effectively.

Compliance & Standards

+ Apply knowledge of mechanical and electrical installation standards throughout the design process.
+ Ensure all designs meet marine safety and regulatory requirements.


Qualifications:
Level: Experienced Engineer or Senior

Essential skills:
Knowledge and experience of Mechanical and Electrical Installation design and standards. (Marine preferred) Proficient in 3D Modelling, 2D Drawings and Schematics using Catia V5/V6 3DS

Desired skills:
Marine experience preferred
