Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical design and system engineering, with a focus on innovative solutions and product development. This role requires expertise in various engineering tools and methodologies, including CAD software, root cause analysis, and system design principles. You will be responsible for leading design projects from concept through to implementation, ensuring that all designs meet the required specifications and standards. As a senior member of a small management team you will have a management role within the company and will need to deputize in different roles when needed, including manufacturing and sales if needed. You would be working closely with the managing director and be involved in design meetings with clients.

Duties

Lead the design and development of complex engineering projects, ensuring adherence to project timelines and specifications. Conduct root cause analysis to identify issues in existing designs and implement effective solutions. Utilise SolidWorks and CAD software to create detailed schematics and 3D models of components and systems. Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles in the creation of technical drawings and documentation.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; a Master's degree is advantageous.

Proven experience as a Design Engineer with a strong portfolio of completed projects. Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAD software, Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings effectively. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis techniques. Familiarity with GD&T standards is essential. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment. A proactive approach to learning new technologies and methodologies within the engineering field.
