This position is available at both our Lostock and Dalton sites. Our Commercial & Industrial division designs, fabricates and constructs structural steelwork for a variety of different sectors including commercial offices, stadia & leisure, industrial & distribution, data centres, retail and health and education.



The division has manufacturing sites in three locations: Dalton, Lostock, and Enniskillen. Each has full-service capabilities and modern manufacturing processes enabling us to provide a high-quality product to a variety of different sectors. Each of our sites has its own strong reputation in the market and between them cover a wider geographical area, including Europe. They continue to set the

in their highly complex market!

Vacancy Details

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our Pre-construction sales team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in de-risking and securing complex engineering projects. This individual will oversee design engineers, review technical designs, represent the company at client meetings, and ensure high quality bids are submitted on time and in line with our standards.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the pre-construction design and engineering phase of projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client expectations. Oversee and review designs produced by junior and mid-level design engineers, ensuring compliance with company procedure Develop and carry out design tasks including structural elements, full frame design, Connections, Temporary works and explore value engineering opportunities. To optimise the design to suit our fabrication and erection processes adding value to any tender. Work closely with the wider internal team and the client team to develop and secure profitable work for the business.

Key Skills & experience

Degree in Structural Engineering; Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it Extensive experience in the design of structural steelwork, including permanent and temporary works and connection detailing Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication processes Proficient in Tekla Structural Designer, MasterSeries, and STAAD Pro; capable of manual design when needed Solid understanding of relevant codes and standards; knowledge of fire regulations is a plus Experienced in client-facing roles with confidence to make technical decisions Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail Proven ability to manage multiple steelwork projects under tight deadlines Strong communicator, effective in multidisciplinary teams
