We are entering an exciting phase of growth, with plans to expand the business across multiple strategic areas focused on new products, innovation, and platform development. To support this, we are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Design Engineer to play a key role in shaping the next generation of Dermalux products.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the business at a pivotal moment and to take real ownership of complex, end-to-end development programmes within a supportive, creative, and highly capable R&D team.

The Role



Reporting directly to the Head of R&D, you will be responsible for managing projects from early concept development through to production validation and manufacturing switch-on. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across R&D, operations, quality, regulatory, manufacturing, and commercial functions to deliver robust, compliant, and beautifully engineered medical devices.

A key part of the role is the ability to communicate design intent, technical decisions, and project progress clearly and confidently, helping to build alignment and stakeholder buy-in at all levels of the business.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and manage product development projects end-to-end, from concept through to manufacture and launch Drive concept generation, system architecture, and detailed design development Produce high-quality CAD models, assemblies, and production drawings using SolidWorks Oversee prototyping, testing, verification, and validation activities Apply DFM/DFA principles to ensure efficient, scalable manufacturing Work within a regulated medical device development framework (ISO 13485) Support risk management, design documentation, and technical files Collaborate closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure product decisions support manufacturing, supply chain, and go-to-market requirements Prepare and deliver internal presentations to communicate concepts, progress, and recommendations, securing stakeholder alignment and approval Work with external suppliers, manufacturers, and test houses Manage timelines, priorities, and stakeholders across multiple projects

Experience & Skills



Minimum 5+ years' experience in a product development or design engineering role Background in medical devices, regulated products, or high-performance consumer technology strongly preferred Strong project management capability with experience owning complex development programmes Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional stakeholders Comfortable presenting to internal audiences and translating technical detail into clear, decision-ready information Expert user of SolidWorks for design and production documentation Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) desirable Good understanding of plastics, sheet metal, mechanical assemblies, and electromechanical products Highly organised, detail-driven, and solutions-focused Collaborative, proactive, and confident working across disciplines
