Job Description

Are you a detail-oriented design professional with a passion for technical precision and continuous improvement? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Design Technician, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality 2D and 3D modelling outputs that support innovative and integrated design solutions.

In this role, you will produce accurate and detailed 2D and 3D models and drawing sets, applying relevant design calculations and best practices to ensure all outputs meet technical standards and specifications. Working collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders, you will continually refine and improve the quality and efficiency of your work.

Your ability to liaise effectively across project teams will be crucial. You'll maintain clear, proactive communication with Project Managers and other stakeholders, ensuring design solutions align seamlessly with client requirements. You'll interpret detailed drawings and technical documents, extract the relevant information, and confidently present concepts to clients and partners.

Organisation is key, and you will take responsibility for accurately logging and storing all drawings, calculations, and technical documentation. Through internal systems, you'll track project progress and ensure records remain reliable and up to date.

Your input will also be valued in product development discussions, collaborating across departments to support innovation and product enhancements.

Job Purpose:

As a Senior Designer, you will produce detailed technical drawings across varying levels of complexity, using engineering calculations to specify the most effective Dura components. You'll work closely with Project Managers, Production, and Engineering teams to resolve technical queries and deliver practical, considered solutions. You'll be responsible for ensuring that all agreed design deadlines are met. When issues arise outside of your control, you'll be expected to communicate clearly, early, and effectively to minimise schedule impact. Success in this role relies on strong communication, attention to detail, and accurate project reporting via our internal project management systems.

Key Responsibilities



2D & 3D Modelling



Produce accurate, detailed 2D & 3D models and drawing sets, applying relevant design calculations and best practice Ensure all work complies with technical standards and specifications Work collaboratively with others to refine and improve output

Project Liaison & Coordination



Maintain clear and proactive communication with Project Managers Liaise with internal stakeholders and external consultants to ensure design solutions are integrated seamlessly Accurately interpret client's detailed drawings & documents and extract relevant information. Present technical concepts clearly and confidently to clients and partners Take responsibility for meeting project deadlines, escalating risks or delays early with clear context and proposed solutions

Documentation & Reporting



Accurately log and store all drawings, calculations, and technical specifications Use internal systems to track progress and maintain clear, reliable records

Continuous Improvement



Actively contribute to Lean and CI (Continuous Improvement) initiatives Use CI tools and techniques to optimise efficiency and eliminate waste

Design Proposals & Product Development



Provide technical input into design proposals and project scoping Collaborate across departments (Production, Engineering, Product Management) to support new product development and product improvements

Design Libraries & Product Details



Help build and maintain an exhaustive design library for Dura Composites products Create and maintain a suite of standardised detail drawings that showcase typical use-cases

Team Contribution & Mentorship



Support and mentor junior designers where appropriate Contribute to knowledge sharing and skill development within the team

Skills & Competencies



Strong technical knowledge of engineering, structures, specifications, and drawings Experience using Inventor or SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and ideally BIM/Revit Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge of GRP/composite structural design is advantageous Excellent attention to detail and precision in drawings and calculations Skilled communicator with a clear, professional approach Organised and capable of managing multiple tasks within a structured project system Previous experience with Document Control systems Is an advantage. Problem-solving mindset and ability to propose innovative, practical design solutions Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards Prior experience in a senior design or technical design role is preferred Comfortable maintaining focus in a dynamic, open-plan workspace

What's on offer?



Basic Salary

:

30,000 - 34,000 per annum

based on 37.5 hours over 5 days a week

NPGSBS:

Potential to earn 10% of Basic salary as part of the company Net Profit Gain Share Bonus System (NPGSBS)

Total Package: 33,000 - 37,400 per annum

(depending on experience)

Holidays

: 20 days per year plus 8 Bank Holidays - (5 days to be taken at Christmas).

Loyalty Holiday accrued from Year 2, with 1 additional day awarded in Yr2, Yr4, Yr6, Yr8, Yr10 - up to a max of 5 additional long service holiday days). Option to purchase 5 additional days per year.
