The role




The Senior DevOps Engineer is a key role within The Fidelis Partnership's Analytics Development team. You will work day-to-day to investigate and resolve technical issues, provide technical support, perform root cause analysis for production errors, build tools to improve customer experience and develop software and build pipelines infrastructure to streamline our development processes and integrate third party systems with internal back-end systems. A key focus will be designing/delivering high quality infrastructure projects to the business. The successful candidate will work in a proactive and cooperative manner to ensure exceptional service and project delivery.



You will be operating in a largely Microsoft tech stack environment with a mix of on-prem and cloud (Azure) hosting, plus a Microsoft Fabric data platform.

Key accountabilities




IT Infrastructure and development support to internal analytics stakeholders Ensure optimal availability and performance of infrastructure components and applications Create and manage build pipelines in ADO, leveraging IAC templates Act as a key internal technical resource for major change projects Work closely with 3rd party vendors to ensure service provision and project delivery meet or exceed business expectations Act as an escalation point for complex support issues Monitor the overall health of the infrastructure and respond to alerts as required Support the engineering team during scoping, design and implementation of new systems Estimate projects and tasks, working closely with technical and business teams as needed Produce and maintain high quality system and project documentation Monitor efficiency of resource use and efficiency of delivered systems Monitor incoming security threat alerts and act when required Set up Fabric gateways, vnet/on-prem connections, capacities, role assignment for access control, inbound/outbound network rules etc. for engineering data from various data sources using Fabric Terraform provider Provide regular feedback to the Management for projects, incident management and change management Mentor and guide junior members of the team Work closely with other technology teams (internal and external), tech architects and business owners to refine requirements and translate business needs into IT solutions Work to ensure there is always an approach of continuous improvement and implementation of best practice Work with the software teams to ensure the technology environment requirements are known and are properly supported, fit for purpose, and kept up to date Create a supportive and rewarding working environment that aligns with the company culture as well as instilling a sense of ownership, accountability and technical excellence in your team driving efficient processes and constantly push engineering best practice Regular progress reporting, defining and reporting KPIs and key objective/result metrics Keep stakeholders up to date on all activities that affects their individual goals and be a point contact for work status Continual focus on long term technology effectiveness, simplicity of solutions and appropriate controls Develop a thorough understand of our industry and our products and services ####

Skills & experience




Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field Minimum 8 years' experience in a similar technical role Strong customer service mentality with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels Strong motivational and people skills, helping team members to excel in a culture of collaboration and openness Excellent organisation and time-management skills, with demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced enterprise level environment Strong communication skills, both oral and written with proven ability to influence change. You should be able to communicate clearly and with purpose, working effectively with team members and stakeholders across the organisation Clear ability to run and manage processes efficiently, including change processes, aligning with other teams as needed Able to deliver objectives assigned to you with a strong sense of urgency Always maintain a high bar of quality and have pride in doing work well to high engineering standards Drive and support innovation in a pragmatic and effective way to meet the needs of the business Passionate about building high-quality systems with meticulous attention to detail Ability to follow and improve process, and improve your skillsets on an on-going basis Fluent in Agile/Scrum Supporting and building a team culture of security, innovation, efficiency, accountability and initiative, with a focus on process simplification and outcome delivery Strong leadership skills, an innovation mindset and experience as a proactive team player Take ownership of your work and responsibility for outcomes delivering key projects Work closely with technical leadership and peers to create product roadmaps, estimate work packages and set priorities for your teams

Specific Technical skills:




Strong windows OS systems administration knowledge (Windows Server 2012 R2/2016/ 2019, Windows 10) Deep experience managing Windows domain environments at an advanced level (Active Directory, Group Policy, Certificate Service etc) Excellent Azure administration and Infrastructure as Code (Iac) skills Extensive experience working in a heavily virtualised environment (VMWare v6.5+ ideally) and with configuring and managing container orchestration solutions, ideally Kubernetes Previous experience administering and maintaining Storage Area Networks Basic SQL server administration including installation, access management and backups/restores Good general knowledge of network administration (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS) Previous experience working of firewall, switch, or router administration (Palo Alto or Cisco Preferred) Good experience with application packaging and deployment. Experience setting up and maintaining desktop image deployment solutions Demonstrable experience of working with an identity & access management solution (such as OneLogin, Duo, Okta, ADFS)
